I see this opinion creeping in more than more, is it wrong to have more of an interest in events that happen closer to home?

Spent a year out there (my office was next to the Australian Embassy, which although fully rebuilt still has a more than significant armed guard/barricade), and loved every minute.
Talk about corrupt though - everything had a price. Made the EU seem like a paradigm of virtuosity.
Not exactly the best way to recruit more Muslims though.
